Description: Modular installation of 20 number 6 x 3m container based modular units to create: 13 office spaces of various sizes, toilet block and lift access over 2 floors. 

Highly insulated units utilizing eco friendly rockwool insulation wall panels, Air source heat pump heating and cooling systems.

Description: Shipping container and light gauge steel portal frame hybrid scheme creating 12 highly efficient light industrial units aimed at artisan local businesses.

The Sidings

Client: Lewes District Council

Description: A meanwhile use development including a total of 5 units utilizing used 40ft shipping containers. The site houses a welcome hub, café and numerous other mixed use units all made from end of life products or re used / recycled / sustainable materials. The site was further future proofed for a phase 2 installation of 7 20ft mixed use container units.

Next - Click and collect pod

Retail unit

Dumfries-Canvey Island-Leominster

Client: Next PLC

Description: OSM worked with The Little Box Company Ltd to design, build and deliver 3 Click and collect pods for the large international retailer Next Plc. Due to the nature of the project OSM was tasked with delivering the 3 pods to 3 separate parts of the country, simultaneously. A feat of logistical planning that OSM was equal to.

The pods are designed to service the ever growing need for collections and returns in the online retail boom. On site construction period of 2 weeks, from start to finish.

Palmerstone House

Client: Lewes District Council

Description: Demolition of existing office buildings, followed by the construction of 13 off-site manufactured modular apartments, over three stories on a very tight site. The accommodation includes 6No. two-bedroom type apartments and 7No. one-bedroom type apartments.

Volumetric modular units manufactured units built by Boutique Modern based in Newhaven. With a bespoke stair and walkway pod system provided by OSM.

Green Farm Hostel

Client: Cardiff Council

Description: OSM were appointed by ISO Spaces to project manage, and act as principle contractor for the design and delivery of the Green Farm Hostel scheme in Cardiff, Wales. The development included a total of eight two-bedroom apartments located within the existing hostel carpark.

The volumetric apartments were designed and built by ISO Spaces, using recycled shipping containers as the building fabric.

Ashington Gardens

Client: Lewes District Council

Description: A development of two small sites within 100m of each other. The project included a total of six one-bedroom single storey bungalows. The project design was aimed at over 60's living and also needed to be sympathetic to existing properties within the local neighbourhood. 

The bungalows were constructed using volumetric modular units manufactured by Boutique Modern based in Newhaven.

Westfield Lodge

Client: Ealing Borough Council

Description: OSM, working with The Little Box Company LTD, created a free-standing interim extension to the hostel adjacent to the original building using a demountable container based modular system. The extension comprises of 5 one-bedroom, 7 two-bedroom and 3 three-bedroom apartments that can accommodate up to 86 individuals.

As a temporary structure the extension does not compromise the future redevelopment of the hostel as the apartments can be easily deployed elsewhere in the borough following refurbishment of the entire site.

Garage Studios

Shoreham by Sea

Client: Private Developer

Description: OSM were appointed by modular manufacturer Boutique Modern to assist in the development of Garage Studios on Shoreham High Street. The development includes 7 studio flats, split between two stories, constructed above 4 garages.

The flats and walkways were constructed using volumetric modular units manufactured by Boutique Modern at their factory in Newhaven. The garages / foundations were built using traditional construction methods by OSM Construction with the volumetric units deployed on top.

Meath Court

Client: Ealing Borough Council

Description: Meath Court, Hope Gardens project with QED Sustainable Urban Developments, the largest development of its kind in the UK. The Acton development comprises of 60 apartments created using offsite manufactured homes. The installation includes communal spaces, onsite management office, laundry and refuse storage. Meath Court now houses young families and low-income individuals in need of immediate emergency accommodation.

Innovation Studios

Description: Customised shipping containers have been used to create Medway Council’s new Innovation Studios Strood at Watermill Wharf, offering small and medium sized companies a sustainable, robust and affordable premises solution.

Medway Council’s Innovation Studios Strood comprises 15 office spaces and 18 storage units which has been created using a kit of moveable and reusable parts based on shipping containers.

Marston Court

Client: Ealing Borough Council

Description: 

This ground-breaking project with QED Sustainable Urban Developments and the London Borough of Ealing provides emergency hostel accommodation, subject to a 10-year temporary planning consent. The re-purposed shipping containers offer a sustainable, robust, affordable and flexible solution particularly suited to this urban, difficult to access infill site.

Four pavilions – comprising two and three storeys, provide 34 units in total. There is also a site management office and laundry, with refuse storage. The whole site is built to secured-by-design principles and landscaped with open outside spaces and a children’s play area.
